I’m getting a little scholarly as of date reading all these manuals that my biologist-friend from UP has sent to me through e-mail, when she learned that I was into breeding zebra finches. I don’t profess to understand everything I’ve read, but this one scientific study caught my attention because I instinctively cannot figure out [...]

I’ve had this manual for months now, when I was researching extensively for that Global Warming post. Read it in sections again today, and learned a lot from it. I thought you might find some use with it as well. (To Greg: I think the manual you would want created should look a little something like this.) Please right-click on [...]

I’ve got an ongoing concern right now with my 4 month old female canary – lately I’ve noticed that it’s shedding an above normal number of feathers. From a brownish gray(my sister used to tease me that Roxie(yes that’s the name I gave her) looks like a “mayang-bato”) it has now turned it’s whole breast [...]

I don’t know if you’ve read this report already, but it says that the best male zebra singers are more intelligent and more likely to get the girls of the colony. Apparently, the more complicated the song of the zebra, the more complicated its brain’s neuron connections are, and in the language of mutation, that’s a good thing. It looks like the [...]

I’m very much aware that an All-Black Zebra Finch is very rare and hard to produce… but how much is it? And where can I see (get) one? I got this little picture from www.finchniche.com and just wanted to know if this is an all black zebra . It says in finchniche that this one is a black [...]

The past week spun the most heated discussions here on FM, from the legality of birdkeeping in the country, to the creation of a price list for finches on the market. Let me make a digression by bringing our readers’ attention to something which I believe is a more important topic–changes in the environment and what the effects are to our [...]

October is unofficially FinchMe’s canary month, and as such let us get to know more about these melodious singers which are thankfully part of the finch family as well. Before we start I would like you to take a look at this video to get more up-close and personal with the species.
(A Singing Yellow Variegated [...]

For the past months that FinchMe has been online, I have received quite a number of texts, e-mails, and even phone calls regarding the FinchMe Membership Page. This is mildly suprising, even with the consideration that FM is now the top ranking Philippine website for finch-related keywords in popular search engines. Just recently as well, our [...]

I should have done this a month ago, but I have just provided my zebra finch pair a nest and nesting materials over the weekend. These two are not over a year old yet, and in human-speak, they’re just about to start a family. Even though I already expected it, I was still a little [...]
