Well Finchme has been experiencing a few problems over the last few weeks which I now hope are behind us.  Problems seem to have turned readers off as much as it has turned writers off doing any posts.  Now that the site is working again I’d recommend that readers contact any previous users that you know and make them aware Finchme is running again.  I also hope to see others prepared to author posts to give a wider perspective than my own.  We are lucky to have Rommel prepared to continue to pay for and administer this site and the more we all contribute the better it will become.

I don’t know if people feel they are giving away trade secrets but there is much we can learn from everyone’s avicultural experiences and tips. There are lots of topics I’d like to know about if you need a prompt on what to write about, so here are a few:

  1. Breeding birds in cages and cabinets
  2. How to build an aviary on a tight budget ( I still haven’t got any further than the base after a year)
  3. Supplements, vitamins and foods to increase fertility
  4. Effect of species mix and density on breeding success in aviaries
  5. Establishing a breeders network to maintain genetic diversity
  6. Tips on feeding and cleaning cages together with other time or labour-saving devices
  7. Reports on native finches here in the Philippines - where to see them, observations on their habits and habitats, conservation issues, their requirements in captivity and of course their availability.
  8. The birds markets of Manila and other cities in the Philippines

I hope that prompts a few posts or comments on what others would like to see.  I’m still working on my “Bird Collections” post which I hope to get up soon.

Regards Greg
