I've never given oregano extract to my birds. I've only given kangkong, which they like very much. Although the 8 in 1 Nestling seed mix seems to have cinamon powder or some kind of powder added into it.

Here is the benefit of using oregano extract.

Oregano is made from wildcrafted true oregano (Origanum vulgare), an aromatic herb that is native to the Mediterranean region. Traditionally, oregano was used to support digestive, respiratory and joint health. Recent in vitro research indicates that carvacrol, an active constituent of oil of oregano, may provide support to the immune system.

Hi Seonadancing. I would like to know what is the benefit of the oregano extract for the finches. Also the dosage? Instead of the extract, I think it is better to use the fresh leaves. The extract may contain preservatives or other chemicals that may be harmful for the birds. What do you think? I hope Kurt can enlighten us with this one. :)

My seed mix includes.

White Millet
Red Millet
Black Millet
Japanese Millet
Canary seed
Panicum (whenever available)
Niger seed
And a bag of this commercially available seed mix that cost 250 in Bioresearch. It contrains greens also so it's pretty good. Spray Millet is given in addition to the seed mix.

Zebras doesn't like black seeds very much so that's what's left on their seed cup most of the time.

I think you can get oregano extract in groceries. I don't use it though. Isn't kelp a form of seaweed? Maybe you can buy that in fish markets, or if it's dried then sa grocery din.
